Whistler Grills (formerly Bonfire)

Whistler Grills is the current name of the Bonfire line from the same manufacturer, Bonfire Production Corp. The grills, burners, doors and drawers here were sold as Bonfire, and their model numbers have not changed: a Bonfire CBB4 is a Whistler CBB4. The lineup covers built-in and cart gas grills, side and power burners, island doors and drawers, and the Whistler Modular Kitchen.

Whistler built-in grills compared

All Whistler built-in grills use cast stainless steel main burners rated at 15,000 BTU each, a ceramic infrared rear burner and 304 stainless steel cooking grates. Each is made in a natural gas and a propane version, so pick the fuel your island is plumbed for.

The 28", 34" and 42" grills ship with a rotisserie kit and a grill cover; the 42" CBB500 also includes a smoker box and heat divider. Each product page lists exactly what is in the box.

How to choose a Whistler grill

Start from the opening

If you already have an island, measure the opening and match it to the cut-out column above. The 28", 34" and 42" grills share the same depth and height, so only the width changes. The 32" CBB4.32 needs a deeper, shorter opening of its own and has its own Modular Kitchen cabinet.

Built-in, cart or Modular Kitchen

  • Built into a masonry island: the grill head drops into a non-combustible island.
  • Built into a framed island: islands framed with wood or other combustible materials need the insulating jacket made for that grill size: 3-burner for the CBB3, 4-burner for the CBB4 and CBB4-B, 5-burner for the CBB500. The 4-burner jacket does not fit the 32" CBB4.32.
  • Freestanding: Whistler carts hold the 28", 34" and 42" grill heads, and the 34" and 42" grills are also sold already on a cart.
  • Modular Kitchen: grill cabinets for the 32", 34" and 42" grills line up with matching side burner, sink, fridge, storage and corner cabinets, with no island to build.

Elite stainless or Black Series

The standard finish is brushed 304 stainless steel. The Black Series uses black stainless steel. Here it covers the 34" grill, built-in or on a cart, plus matching side burners, power burners, doors and drawers. Black Series parts use the same openings as the stainless versions, so you can plan an island first and choose the finish later.

Build out the island

  • Side burners: the double side burner (CBADSB) adds two cast brass burners, 24,000 BTU in all, styled to match the 28" and 34" grills.
  • Power burners: the CBAPB is a 60,000 BTU dual ring burner for stock pots, seafood boils and woks, with a lid that closes over it.
  • Doors: the 33" double access door (CBADD) closes off the space under the grill where the propane tank, gas line and shut-off valve usually sit. Single vertical and horizontal doors fit narrower openings.
  • Drawers and trash: triple drawers, door and drawer combos, and drawer and trash pull-outs, with soft-close drawers.

Whistler Grills warranty

Whistler's limited warranty covers the original owner (it is not transferable) for residential use in the US or Canada:

  • Limited lifetime: cast stainless steel burners, stainless steel cooking grates and stainless steel housing.
  • 3 years: infrared rear burner, cast brass side burner, knobs, brass valves, drip pans, flame tamers and warming rack.
  • 1 year: all other component parts, the ignition system (batteries excluded) and electronics, including lights and thermometers.

Covered parts are repaired or replaced free; the owner pays labor and freight. Harsh detergents or degreasers void the warranty.

Is Bonfire the same as Whistler Grills?

Yes. Whistler Grills is the current name of the Bonfire line, made by the same manufacturer. The products and model numbers carried over, which is why some manuals and older listings still say Bonfire.

Will Bonfire parts and accessories fit a Whistler grill?

Fit follows the model number, not the brand name. A Bonfire CBB4 and a Whistler CBB4 are the same grill, so a part listed for the CBB4 fits either. Send us your model number if you are not sure.

What sizes do Whistler built-in grills come in?

28" (3 burners), 32" (4 burners), 34" (4 burners) and 42" (5 burners), plus a 28" built-in griddle. Each comes in a natural gas and a propane version.

Can I build a Whistler grill into a wood-framed island?

Yes, with the insulating jacket made for that grill. The jacket lines the opening and the grill drops into it. Without a jacket, the island has to be non-combustible.

What is the Whistler Black Series?

Black stainless steel versions of the 34" grill, side burners, doors and drawers. They fit the same openings as the stainless models.
