Description

The American Fyre Designs Contempo Rectangle is a chat-height gas fire table with a low 52-inch rectangular top. It measures 52" W x 36" D x 15½" H and carries a 24" stainless steel linear burner rated at 60,000 BTU, in natural gas. This listing is the Dark Basalt finish, handcrafted in the USA.

It lights with a push-button spark igniter and a manual flame-sensing control valve. The igniter runs on one AA battery, so you don't need an outdoor outlet, and the knob sets the flame height.

Plan these before you order: a gas line with a shut-off valve within 6 feet, and 3 feet of open space on every side with 6 feet clear above. See more American Fyre Designs fire features.

Photos may show this model in a different finish or fuel configuration. Your order is built in Dark Basalt, and each piece is handcrafted, so color and texture vary slightly.

Features

  • 60,000 BTU, 24" stainless steel linear burner: a long line of flame down the center of the top.
  • Push-button spark ignition, no electrical hookup: one AA battery powers the igniter.
  • Adjustable flame: turn the control knob to raise or lower the flame.
  • Field-convertible fuel: AFD's certified kit changes the gas type if your supply changes (installed by a qualified technician).
  • Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC): handcrafted in the USA, finished in Dark Basalt.
  • Lava granules included: 10 lb in the box, all the media it needs if you use lava as your fire media. For fire glass or gems instead, AFD recommends 10 lb.
  • Certified: ANSI Z21.97 / CSA 2.41 for outdoor decorative gas appliances.

Installation planning

  • Outdoor use only. Keep at least 3 ft from any construction on each side and 6 ft from anything overhead. Over time, soot can collect on a ceiling above the unit.
  • Set it on a hard, level surface. AFD permits a combustible surface under the unit, but keep it out of traffic areas and away from combustibles.
  • A fixed gas line needs an easily accessible shut-off valve (not included) within 6 ft of the unit. Natural gas inlet pressure is 5 to 10.5 in. w.c.; propane is 11 to 13 in. w.c. AFD recommends a sediment trap where applicable. Above 2,000 ft elevation, check with your gas supplier first.
  • Have it installed by an NFI-certified or other qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier, following local codes, and have it inspected at least once a year.
  • Plan for two or more people. Some components are heavy and have sharp edges, so wear gloves.
  • Don't run it in heavy rain or high wind. AFD warns that wind can push flame onto the finish and crack or discolor it. Never burn wood or other solid fuel, and never leave it burning unattended.
  • Care: wipe up spills right away, use coasters, clean with mild soap and water, and apply a masonry sealer once a year. Concrete develops a patina outdoors; AFD does not treat spotting or hairline cracks as defects. Keep it covered when cool and not in use.

Warranty

AFD limited warranty: 3 years on the GFRC fire table and burner; 1 year on electrical components, valves, accessories and controls (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded). It covers the original purchaser, single-family residential use in the US or Canada, with proof of purchase and installation by a qualified professional. A separate warranty applies to commercial or multi-user settings. Labor is not covered. Damage from high wind, from burning wood or any fuel other than natural gas or propane, and normal outdoor rust, corrosion or discoloration are excluded. Full terms are on page 60 of the manual, and you can register the product at rhpeterson.com.
