Description

The American Fyre Designs 32" Marseille Fire Bowl is an outdoor gas fire bowl with a reduced profile and a wide opening. It measures 32" dia x 8½" H and carries a 16" stainless steel star burner rated at 65,000 BTU, in propane. This listing is the Light Basalt finish with a built-in water spout, handcrafted in the USA.

It lights with a push-button spark igniter and a manual flame-sensing control valve. The igniter runs on one AA battery, so you don't need an outdoor outlet, and the knob sets the flame height. This model cannot hold a propane tank in its base, so running it on propane takes a separate ventilated enclosure and a regulator hose assembly, both sold separately.

The spout (scupper) is built to empty into a pool, pond or similar water feature. The water line comes up from beneath the bowl near its center. AFD does not offer spout bowls with FyreStarter ignition.

Plan these before you order: how you will supply propane, a water line, and 3 feet of open space on every side with 6 feet clear above. See more American Fyre Designs fire features.

Photos may show this model in a different finish or fuel configuration. Your order is built in Light Basalt, and each piece is handcrafted, so color and texture vary slightly.

Features

  • 65,000 BTU, 16" stainless steel star burner: a star burner that spreads flame across the media.
  • Push-button spark ignition, no electrical hookup: one AA battery powers the igniter.
  • Adjustable flame: turn the control knob to raise or lower the flame.
  • Field-convertible fuel: AFD's certified kit changes the gas type if your supply changes (installed by a qualified technician).
  • Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC): handcrafted in the USA, finished in Light Basalt.
  • Lava granules included: 20 lb in the box, all the media it needs if you use lava as your fire media. For fire glass or gems instead, AFD recommends 30 lb.

  • Certified: ANSI Z21.97 / CSA 2.41 for outdoor decorative gas appliances.

Installation planning

  • Outdoor use only. Keep at least 3 ft from any construction on each side and 6 ft from anything overhead. Over time, soot can collect on a ceiling above the unit.
  • Set it on a hard, level surface. AFD permits a combustible surface under the unit, but keep it out of traffic areas and away from combustibles.
  • A tank enclosure must be non-combustible, ventilated and drained, with interior space of at least 16½" wide and 22" high, a cylinder secured 2" off the floor, a 1" x 1" hose cutout and 6" of side clearance. The hose must stay above ground and no longer than 10 ft. AFD's tank/end tables meet these requirements.
  • Use only a cylinder with an overfilling prevention device and vapor withdrawal, and never store a spare cylinder under or near the unit.
  • A fixed gas line needs an easily accessible shut-off valve (not included) within 6 ft of the unit. Natural gas inlet pressure is 5 to 10.5 in. w.c.; propane is 11 to 13 in. w.c. AFD recommends a sediment trap where applicable. Above 2,000 ft elevation, check with your gas supplier first.
  • Run the water line up from beneath the unit near its center, with supply pressure between 7 and 80 psi. AFD recommends a water shut-off valve, which is not included.
  • Have it installed by an NFI-certified or other qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier, following local codes, and have it inspected at least once a year.
  • Plan for two or more people. Some components are heavy and have sharp edges, so wear gloves.
  • Don't run it in heavy rain or high wind. AFD warns that wind can push flame onto the finish and crack or discolor it. Never burn wood or other solid fuel, and never leave it burning unattended.
  • Care: wipe up spills right away, use coasters, clean with mild soap and water, and apply a masonry sealer once a year. Concrete develops a patina outdoors; AFD does not treat spotting or hairline cracks as defects. Keep it covered when cool and not in use.

Warranty

AFD limited warranty: 3 years on the GFRC fire bowl and burner; 1 year on electrical components, valves, accessories and controls (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded). It covers the original purchaser, single-family residential use in the US or Canada, with proof of purchase and installation by a qualified professional. A separate warranty applies to commercial or multi-user settings. Labor is not covered. Damage from high wind, from burning wood or any fuel other than natural gas or propane, and normal outdoor rust, corrosion or discoloration are excluded. Full terms are on page 54 of the manual, and you can register the product at rhpeterson.com.
