Description
The Primo 2-Piece Island Top (PG00311, Primo part #311) turns Primo's metal cart base into a grill island for the Oval XL 400 or Oval Large 300. Two poly tops wrap around the grill on brackets, giving you a work surface on both sides of the dome. Primo builds them from marine-grade materials with UV inhibitors for weather resistance, and says they are FDA approved as food safe and resist stains, mold and mildew.
The top mounts on the Large/XL cart base PG00368 (Primo cart #368), which is sold separately, as is the grill: the Oval XL 400 PGCXLH (400 sq in main grate) or the Oval Large 300 PGCLGH (300 sq in). Primo also lists this top for the X-Large Jack Daniel's Edition; the Jack Daniel's Edition island top PG00911 adds the Old No. 7 logo. Plan ahead: the cart, grill and cover are not included. The top bolts to the cart frame by hand with an adjustable or 10 mm wrench and a large Phillips screwdriver; Primo says not to use power drivers or impact wrenches. Primo does not publish the top's dimensions or weight; ask us for them before you plan your patio space.

Installation planning
- Before you start: unpack and check every part against the parts list, and handle the metal parts with care, as some may have sharp edges. Tighten by hand: Primo says powered screwdrivers, drills and impact wrenches can damage the cart or its grommets.
- Cart first: assemble the PG00368 cart base following Primo's Cart Assembly instructions (PG1000728) and stand it on a flat surface.
- Island top (Primo): (1) remove the four end caps if they were installed; (2) attach the four brackets to the cart frame with M6 x 20 bolts, finger tight only; if your brackets have a third hole, fit the M6 x 16 flat head screw through the outermost hole first; (3) set the island tops over the brackets and frame, using the outermost set of holes for an XL and the innermost set for a Large; (4) start the four Phillips screws on each top by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten them with the screwdriver; (5) once the tops are secure, tighten the brackets to the frame.
- Hardware check: Primo's step for the brackets refers to hex head bolts while its parts list names Phillips head screws, so check the hardware in your box before you begin.
- Setting the grill: lock the casters first. Primo's oval grill unpacking instructions (PG1000596) call for two adults to lift the head, one at each end, with one hand under and one behind the grill, and never by the hinge assembly.
- Placement: Primo's spec sheets ask for 12 in. of space behind the Large and XL so the lid can open fully, and at least 2 in. around the outside of the grill. Choose a smooth, level spot for the casters.
Care: Primo's warranty asks owners to check and tighten bolts several times a season; check the bracket bolts and top screws from time to time. Primo makes a Cart & Table Grill Cover in an island-top version for the grill, cart and top.
Warranty
Primo Ceramic Grills' warranty page does not name its island tops. Its general terms give a limited 1-year rust-through warranty on all cast iron parts and on "all other parts and accessories" unless stated otherwise, alongside the limited lifetime warranty on ceramic parts and the limited 5-year rust-through warranty on metal parts other than cast iron. Ask us to confirm the coverage for this top before you order.
Primo's conditions: coverage is for the original purchaser; the product must be installed according to Primo's instructions; keep a bill of sale or payment record. Replacement parts ship at the purchaser's expense. Not covered: damage from use, misuse, improper installation or storage, unauthorized service or parts, lack of maintenance (including not checking and tightening bolts several times a season), removal and reinstallation, service calls, labor, travel, diagnostic and freight charges. Claims go through your dealer with the model number and proof of purchase, or through Primo's online warranty claim form; international claims are not accepted.
