Description

The Outdoor GreatRoom Cove 54" Linear Gas Fire Pit Table is a 54" linear concrete gas fire table, 16" tall. It is cast from Supercast concrete, a glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) that is non-combustible (tested to ASTM E136-16), so it can sit on a patio as a freestanding piece or be designed into an outdoor room from the start.

Its 42" Crystal Fire Plus burner plate is rated up to 80,000 BTU/hr. There is no tank compartment, so plan for a gas line run up through the opening in the bottom of the base. Have a qualified installer run the gas line, and check local codes before installation.

This listing is Outdoor GreatRoom SKU CV-1242: Natural Grey.

Current model: Outdoor GreatRoom now lists this 54" Cove linear table as SKU CV-54. See the Cove 54" Linear Gas Fire Pit Table in Natural Grey (CV-54).

  • Gas comes up through the base: an opening in the bottom of the base leaves room for the gas line, and electrical if you add electronic controls.
  • Propane or natural gas: ships set up for liquid propane and includes a natural gas conversion kit.

What's included

  • Crystal Fire Plus BP1242-CV-B (42" x 12" burner plate) burner with control valve and control panel
  • Push-button sparker
  • Clear tempered glass gems
  • Natural gas conversion kit

You'll also need

  • A hard-piped gas line run by a qualified installer, sized for the burner and following local codes
  • One AAA battery for the sparker
  • Two wrenches for the gas connections, a Phillips screwdriver, a utility knife and gloves
  • Non-corrosive leak-check solution
  • At least two people to move and set it

Installation planning

  • Outdoors only. The space can have walls on all four sides with no roof; a roof with two side walls; or a roof with three side walls as long as 30% of the side wall area stays permanently open.
  • Clearance: 72" from the top of the burner to anything combustible overhead, 24" from the burner edge to combustible side walls, and 4" below the burner. Set it on a solid, level surface with clear walkways around it.
  • Gas connection: installation and repair should be done by a qualified service technician; Outdoor GreatRoom recommends NFI-certified gas professionals. Use two wrenches on every fitting.
  • Natural gas conversion: the burner ships set for propane. Fit the included conversion parts before connecting it to a natural gas line.
  • Leak check: brush a non-corrosive leak-check solution on every connection and open the gas slowly; bubbles mean a leak. Rinse the solution off afterwards, then purge air from the line before the first lighting.
  • Fire media: spread it evenly over the whole burner; it must be in place whenever the burner runs. Use Outdoor GreatRoom media in the amount it specifies, and don't overfill.

Lighting and use

  • Lighting: with the control valve off, open the gas supply. Press and hold the sparker button and check for a spark, then turn the knob to LOW/IGNITION, push it fully in and hold it 3-5 seconds. The burner should stay lit when you release the knob.
  • If it doesn't light: after 20 seconds, turn the valve off and wait 5 minutes for gas to clear before trying again. Never try to light it if you smell gas.
  • Flame height: adjust between LOW and HIGH at any time. To turn it off, return the knob to LOW/IGNITION, push in and turn to OFF, then close the cylinder valve.
  • Safety: keep children and pets away from hot surfaces and the flame, keep clothing and flammables clear, and never burn wood or other solid fuels in it.

Care and maintenance

  • Annual service: have a qualified professional service it at least once a year: clear debris from the burner pan, clean the ignition electrode and thermocouple, and check the burner neck and orifice for obstructions.
  • Cleaning: lift out the fire media, wash it in water with dish soap and let it dry on a towel. Blow debris out of the burner pan with compressed air; stainless trim can be polished with a stainless steel cleaner. The ignition wind guard discolors with heat, which is normal.
  • Concrete: fine hairline cracks under 1/8" are normal in GFRC and do not affect the structure.
  • Covering it: let it cool completely before fitting a burner cover or a protective cover.

Warranty

The Outdoor GreatRoom Company's warranty starts on the date of purchase and covers defects in material and workmanship for installations in the United States and Canada:

  • Crystal Fire Plus stainless steel burner: limited lifetime warranty of 10 years in a residential installation, 5 years in a commercial one
  • Ignition and electronic components: 3 years residential, 1 year commercial
  • Supercast (GFRC) concrete: 1 year on structure and finish. Hairline cracks under 1/8" wide or deep are normal and are not a defect
  • Glass wind guards (sold separately): 90 days on the glass

It is for the original owner and the original installation and cannot be transferred. It is void after installation or use that doesn't follow the manuals or local codes, use of other fuels, unauthorized parts or modifications, misuse, or skipped maintenance.
