Description

The Blaze BLZ-26-PZOVN-IJ is the stainless steel insulated jacket for the Blaze 26-inch built-in outdoor pizza oven (BLZ-26-PZOVN). Blaze requires it when the oven goes into an island built from combustible materials, such as a wood-framed outdoor kitchen: the jacket sits in the island opening and the oven drops into it, shielding the structure around it from the oven's heat.

The jacket measures 28-1/2" W x 26-3/8" D x 9-1/8" H and needs a cut-out of 26-3/4" W x 25-1/16" D x 8-3/4" H. A self-supporting ledge runs around the sides and back.

Blaze's page names only the 26-inch built-in pizza oven for this jacket. If you have the Blaze 26-inch LTE+ outdoor oven (BLZ-LTE3OVN), ask us to confirm the fit with Blaze before you order. In a non-combustible island the oven needs no jacket; to use it on a counter or freestanding instead, see the countertop sleeve (BLZ-26-PZOVN-TBL) or the oven cart (BLZ-26-PZOVN-CART2).

Plan before you order: the oven is sold separately, and the jacket does not change the oven's own clearances beside, behind or above it.

Installation planning

  • Cut the island opening to the jacket cut-out: 26-3/4" W x 25-1/16" D x 8-3/4" H.
  • Oven clearances (from the oven's installation guide; details on the BLZ-26-PZOVN page): keep at least 14" from combustible material at the sides and 5" at the back, and at least 6 feet between the countertop and any overhead construction. Combustible overhead construction must be protected by a vent hood of at least 1,000 CFM that is larger than the cooking area.
  • Island venting: vent the cavity on both sides at upper and lower levels. Propane is heavier than air, so low vents matter most; natural gas rises, so high vents matter most. A propane cylinder inside the island needs a plenum wall or a propane tank drawer.
  • The oven needs a GFI-protected 15-amp circuit for its lights and controls, and a gas flex connector of at least 1/2" diameter with an accessible manual shut-off valve.
  • A licensed professional contractor should install the jacket, and a licensed gas professional should make every gas connection (Blaze insulated jacket installation sheet).
  • Blaze does not allow a rubber gas line connected directly to the appliance inside the jacket, even one supplied with it: use a stainless steel flex line. Different fittings or a pipe extension may be needed to avoid kinks and keep excess line out of the jacket.
  • Leak-check every gas connection as the final step and correct any leak before use.
  • The jacket protects combustible material from the cooking surface down only. The oven manual's clearances beside, behind and above the oven still apply.

Warranty

Blaze states that its insulated jackets are covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in manufacturing and workmanship. The warranty extends to the original purchaser and applies to products bought for ordinary single-family home use. Blaze's product page gives no further conditions or exclusions for the jacket; the oven you set in it carries its own warranty, set out in its manual. Register the product with Blaze after delivery.
