Description
The Bull 38-inch insulated grill jacket (model 47018) is a heavy-duty 304 stainless steel heat barrier that fits around a 38-inch Bull built-in grill in an outdoor kitchen island. It keeps the grill's heat away from the surrounding cabinet, countertop and nearby materials while keeping the airflow the grill needs for safe operation. Bull lists it for all 38-inch Bull grills, including the Brahma (57568 LP / 57569 NG); we also carry the Renegade 38-inch.
It measures 45-3/8" W x 22" D x 10" H and weighs 59 lb, with reinforced edges. The jacket is supported from below, has no pre-drilled holes so the builder chooses how to fasten it to the framing, and can sit flush with the countertop or slightly above it. Installation planning
- Cut-out: Bull's jacket spec sheet (v2022.11.22) shows the installation cut-out on its perspective view. Cut-out height is measured from the top of the tile to the bottom of the cut-out, and Bull notes that building materials vary, so adjust the cut-out to suit. For a flush mount, subtract the countertop thickness and any substrate from the opening.
- Support and fastening: the jacket must be supported from the bottom. It has no pre-drilled holes: drill through the bottom of the jacket to fasten it to the framing.
- Enclosure: Bull's Brahma manual (v2025.02.14) says not to use combustible materials to build the enclosure for a built-in grill, to keep 21" from the sides and back of the grill to any combustible materials, and to fit a UL 710 approved heavy-duty vent hood if the grill sits under overhead combustible construction.
- Venting: the same manual requires a properly ventilated enclosure for a propane cylinder and recommends ventilation openings on all exposed sides of the island at both top and bottom; it warns that poor ventilation can lead to an explosion or fire.
Warranty
Bull's warranty policy (v2026.10.29) covers all parts of its outdoor kitchen components, including grill jackets, for 1 year. The policy covers the consumer who originally bought the product, at the original site of delivery or installation; it does not transfer to a later owner and does not cover rental, commercial or other non-residential use. Bull replaces the defective part or product free of charge at its discretion, but does not pay shipping on replacement parts or any labor. Damage from transport, storage, improper installation or use, failure to follow the instructions or perform maintenance, modifications, normal wear (including rust, corrosion, oxidation or discoloration) and outside causes is not covered.
