Description

The Blaze Premium LTE+ BLZ-5LTE3 is a 40-inch, 5-burner built-in gas grill for natural gas or propane. Five cast 304 stainless steel burners at 14,000 BTU each and a 10,000 BTU infrared rear burner give 80,000 BTU in total; the 37-1/4" x 18" main grid (670 sq. in.) is split into five heat zones, with a 227 sq. in. removable warming rack above it. Blaze rates the main grid at up to 24 burgers.

The LTE+ generation adds a spring-assisted hood, red LED-backlit control knobs and halogen interior lights that switch on automatically through a magnetic sensor. Patented 9 mm triangular stainless steel cooking rods, removable heat zone separators, perforated flame-stabilizing grids and a full-width drip tray sit under a double-lined 304 stainless steel hood. Choose propane (BLZ-5LTE3-LP) or natural gas (BLZ-5LTE3-NG) above to match your gas supply.

Comparing generations? The earlier Premium LTE 40-inch (BLZ-5LTE2) uses the same cut-out and burners; its page has a side-by-side LTE vs LTE+ comparison.

The rear burner is built for rotisserie cooking; the spit and motor are sold separately as the 40-inch rotisserie kit (BLZ-5-ROTIS-SS). To use the same grill head freestanding, pair it with the 5-burner grill cart (BLZ-5-CART-SC). For a smaller island, see the 32-inch Premium LTE+ (BLZ-4LTE3); for a digital temperature screen, probes and an included rotisserie kit, see the 40-inch LTE PRO (BLZ-5LTEPRO).

Plan before you order: the cut-out is 38-3/8" W x 21-1/4" D x 8-1/2" H, the island must be non-combustible (or fitted with a Blaze insulated jacket), the lights need a GFI-protected 15-amp outlet inside the island, and a propane island needs vents at floor level. Blaze does not allow installation under a combustible roof or overhang.

Features

  • 80,000 BTU total: five 14,000 BTU cast stainless steel burners plus a 10,000 BTU infrared rear burner for rotisserie cooking.
  • Five heat zones: a 670 sq. in. main grid divided by removable heat zone separators, plus a 227 sq. in. warming rack.
  • 9 mm triangular searing rods: Blaze's patented stainless steel rods for defined sear marks, over flame-stabilizing grids that limit flare-ups.
  • Spring-assisted, double-lined hood: easier to lift and lower, and the double wall resists heat discoloration and holds heat.
  • Night-ready lighting: red LED-backlit knobs and automatic halogen interior lights.
  • Dependable ignition: Push N' Turn flame-thrower ignition, with a flash tube and crossover channels as backup.

Installation planning

  • Cut-out: 38-3/8" W x 21-1/4" D x 8-1/2" H. Overall size: 39-1/2" W x 25-3/4" D x 21-1/4" H. The manual shows the extra room the hood needs to open.
  • Build into a non-combustible enclosure, or use a Blaze insulated jacket. Cut a 1" air gap in the front face of the countertop below the control panel.
  • Clearances: 18" from combustible construction at the sides and back; 4" from non-combustible construction. Never install under combustible overhead construction. Under a non-combustible overhead, keep 72" and run a UL-listed vent hood of at least 1,000 CFM that is larger than the cooking area, with the fan bottom 36" above the cooking surface.
  • Island vents on both sides: propane (heavier than air) needs lower vents with their bottom within 1" of the island floor and top no more than 5" up, each at least 1/2 sq. in. of free area per lb of stored fuel; natural gas needs upper vents within 5" of the island top, each at least 1 sq. in. per lb of stored fuel. Openings must admit a 1/8" rod and stay unobstructed.
  • Propane: one standard 20 lb cylinder (12-1/4" diameter x 18" high, with overfill protection device) at a time; connect the 3/8" flare hose fitting with a wrench and no pipe sealant. Natural gas: Blaze recommends a flex connector of at least 5/8" diameter, run to the regulator at the rear right corner, with an accessible shut-off valve.
  • Electrical: mount a 15-amp outlet on a GFI-protected breaker inside the island (back wall); the light transformer plugs into it. Outdoor-rated extension cords only.
  • Two people should lift the grill into the cut-out; check it sits level and is supported around its full edge (non-combustible shims if needed). A permit may be required. Fuel conversion (LP to NG or back) is done only by a licensed gas professional: new orifices on each burner plus the regulator pin.
  • With an insulated jacket: a licensed contractor installs it, gas connections inside it use a stainless steel flex line (never a rubber hose), and the grill's own clearances above, behind and beside still apply.
  • Leak-test every connection with soapy water before first use and whenever a connection changes; never use a flame.

Care: Inspect and clear the burner tubes before each use (insects can nest in them and cause a flashback). Flames should be mostly blue and not lift off the burner; the air shutter is set about 1/8" open for natural gas and 1/4" for propane. After each cook, brush the grates on medium-high, wipe them with a 50/50 vinegar and water solution, then dry and oil lightly; empty and wash the drip tray once cool and never cook without it. Clean stainless steel with the grain using a non-metallic pad, never flood a hot grill with cold water, and cover it only when cool and dry.

Warranty

Blaze lifetime warranty (parts only) on the main burners, cooking grids, body, flame tamers, heat zone separators, warming rack and control valves; 1 year (parts only) on ignition, electrical and lighting components, from the purchase date. For multi-user use, Blaze covers the stainless steel housing, burners, rod grids, brass valves, liners and manifolds for 3 years and other parts (except burners) for 90 days; restaurant use is not covered.

The warranty covers the original owner at the original installation site in the United States and Canada and is not transferable. Register the grill with Blaze within 30 days of purchase and keep your receipt. Labor, shipping and diagnostic charges are not covered, and discoloration or surface rust is excluded unless structural integrity is lost. Improper installation, unqualified repairs or unapproved alterations void the warranty. Full terms are in the grill manual below.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Blaze BLZ-5LTE2 and BLZ-5LTE3?

Both are 40-inch, 5-burner grills with 80,000 BTU and the same 38-3/8" x 21-1/4" x 8-1/2" cut-out. The LTE+ (BLZ-5LTE3) adds a spring-assisted hood, red LED-backlit knobs and halogen interior lights that switch on automatically. See the side-by-side comparison.

Is the BLZ-5LTE3 available for natural gas?

Yes. BLZ-5LTE3-NG is the natural gas model (regulator set to 4" water column) and BLZ-5LTE3-LP is the propane model (LP hose and regulator included). A later conversion must be done by a licensed gas professional.

Can the BLZ-5LTE3 go in a wood or combustible island?

Only with a Blaze insulated jacket for 40-inch 5-burner grills, installed by a licensed contractor; please confirm the jacket model with us before ordering. Without a jacket, the enclosure must be non-combustible, and Blaze does not allow the grill under a combustible roof or overhang.
