Description

The Broilmaster 12-Inch Insulated Sleeve (BSASL12) is the built-in insulated sleeve (jacket) for the Broilmaster 12-inch double side burner (BSABF12N), the slide-in two-burner side burner from Broilmaster's stainless accessory line that pairs with the G-Series Elite built-in grills. The burner slides into the sleeve and rests on its lip, and the sleeve lines the island opening around it.

Broilmaster's stainless specification sheet lists the BSASL12 under its side burner sleeves at 13-3/8" wide x 12-7/8" high x 22-1/8" deep; the BSABF12 burner itself is listed at 11-7/8" W x 11-3/4" H x 21" D for built-in installation, so the island opening has to be planned for the sleeve before you build. Broilmaster's double side burner page says that if you install it into combustible material you must first install an insulated sleeve, and the side burner manual warns that installing it into a combustible enclosure without an insulated jacket could result in fire.

Plan ahead: the same manual says the burner is designed for a non-combustible masonry enclosure and should be surrounded by non-combustible material such as brick or Hardibacker. Have your installer confirm the enclosure against the manual before building. For the 16-inch power burner, see the 16-inch BSASL16 sleeve; the matching grill sleeves are the 26-inch, 34-inch and 42-inch BSASL sleeves.

Features

  • Sized for the BSABF12: a 13-3/8" W x 12-7/8" H x 22-1/8" D sleeve around the 11-7/8" W x 21" D double side burner (spec sheet 01031).
  • Fire protection in a combustible island: Broilmaster's manual warns against installing the burner in a combustible enclosure without an insulated jacket.
  • Burner rests on the sleeve lip: the burner sits over the lip across the back and sides with no fasteners, so it lifts out for service.
  • Listed with the grill sleeves: Broilmaster's spec sheet lists it alongside the BSASL16 power burner sleeve and the BSASL26, BSASL34 and BSASL42 G-Series grill sleeves, so one island can be planned around matching parts.
  • Lifetime rust-through coverage: built-in sleeves are on Broilmaster's limited lifetime warranty list.

Installation planning

  • Build the island opening to the built-in sleeve dimensions table in the side burner manual, and plan the frame for the combined weight of the sleeve, the burner and the finishing materials.
  • Check the framing is level front to back and side to side, and set the sleeve in the opening. No part of the enclosure may stick up above the top surface or in front of the liner face.
  • Slide the burner into the sleeve so it rests over the sleeve lip across the back and sides. The liner supports it without fasteners; do not grout the sides or fasten it in, so it can be removed for maintenance.
  • Any gap between the sleeve and the enclosure may be filled with a non-combustible sealant. Never install a transformer or run a gas hose between the burner and the sleeve.
  • Cut 4" square openings at the rear or bottom for the gas and electrical connections, which are on the right side.
  • Clearances printed in the manual: 36" from the sides and 36" from the back to adjacent combustible construction below the top of the unit; at least 16" from any wall or surface and from combustible objects; at least 6" behind any hood so it can open; never under overhead combustible construction.
  • With a propane tank in the island, the manual calls for vent registers of at least 10 sq. in. each, two per side, one high and one low, with the bottom of each vent at least 2-1/4" above the ground.
  • Broilmaster's warranty calls for installation by a qualified installer.

Warranty

Broilmaster's stainless grill specification sheet lists built-in sleeves among the components with a limited lifetime warranty against rust-through, alongside the stainless grill housing, cooking grids, carts, side burners, access doors and drawers and vent register kits. Valves, knobs, ignitors, labels, hoses, fittings and all other parts and accessories have a 1-year warranty against rust-through, including those made from stainless steel. Broilmaster requires installation by a qualified installer and proof of purchase (bill of sale, cancelled check or payment record). Damage from misuse, improper installation or storage, or lack of maintenance is excluded, as are travel, diagnostic, freight, removal and reinstallation costs, service-call and labor charges. Claims go through your installing dealer with the model number and proof of purchase. Full terms are on Broilmaster's warranty page and in the side burner manual.
