The first-generation BLZ-36-VHOOD, BLZ-42-VHOOD and BLZ-48-VHOOD have been replaced by these 2026 models. Their pages stay up for owners, with specs and links to the replacement. The 2026 hoods add built-in lights with selectable color temperatures, grease-free lighted controls and easier servicing.

Choosing the hood width

The Blaze manuals do not set a width margin, so size the hood to cover everything under it: at least as wide as the grill, and wider if a side burner or griddle sits under the same hood. As a starting point, a 25 or 32-inch grill fits under the 36-inch hood, a 34 or 40-inch grill under the 42-inch hood, and the 44-inch Professional LUX under the 48-inch hood.

Mounting and ducting from the Blaze manual

  • Mount 36 to 40 inches between the cooking surface and the bottom of the hood, never less than 36 inches.
  • Use 8-inch metal duct. Each hood has two outlets for 8-inch pipe and needs two separate runs, each to its own exterior cap rated 1,000 CFM with a damper and screen.
  • Use no more than three 90-degree elbows, with at least 24 inches of straight pipe between elbows.
  • Vent outdoors only, never into an attic or other enclosed space.
  • Hide the ducts with the matching low-ceiling (DCVR-12) or high-ceiling (DCVR-22) telescoping duct cover for your hood width.

Blaze vent hood FAQ

Which grill fits under the Blaze 36-inch vent hood?

The 36-inch BLZ-36-VHOOD2 suits Blaze 25 and 32-inch grills. For a 34 or 40-inch grill, or a grill with a side burner under the same hood, step up to the 42-inch model.

How many CFM is a Blaze vent hood?

Blaze does not publish a CFM rating for the 2026 hoods' blowers. Each hood has two outlets for 8-inch pipe, and the Blaze manuals call for two separate duct runs, each to an exterior cap rated 1,000 CFM. The 42 and 48-inch hoods have two internal blowers with multiple speed settings.

How high should a Blaze vent hood be mounted?

The Blaze manual calls for 36 to 40 inches between the cooking surface and the bottom of the hood. It warns that a hood mounted too low can cause heat damage and a fire hazard.

What changed with the 2026 Blaze vent hoods?

The 2026 VHOOD2 models keep the 36-inch canopy depth and mounting height. They add built-in lights with selectable color temperatures, grease-free lighted controls, easier servicing and matching telescoping duct covers.

Do I need a duct cover?

Not for the hood to work, but it hides the duct between the hood and the ceiling. Blaze makes a low-ceiling and a high-ceiling cover for each hood width.
